Dear Pre-K Parents,
We would like to welcome your child and family to our Holy Name School Family! Thank you for choosing Holy Name and our Pre-K Program!
Our Pre-Kindergarten program focuses on the social, emotional, spiritual, physical, and academic needs of the four- to five-year-old child. We provide a variety of developmentally appropriate, theme-based activities within a positive, nurturing learning environment.
Young children learn best when they are actively exploring materials, using their senses within their environment, engaging with others, and using new information and skills at their own pace . Therefore, the majority of our learning experiences involve active play, socialization, and exploration.
Through play your child will acquire information, solve problems, develop creativity, experiment, utilize new information, strengthen fine and gross motor skills, and learn to work independently and cooperatively with others.
The children will also participate in whole group teacher-directed learning activities in Math, Science, Religion, Language Art, Writing, Art, Music, Computers, Spanish, and Physical Education. They will also attend weekly Mass with the school’s student body and become active participants in the Mass.
Whenever possible, the children will participate in class field trips, or special class activities to reinforce concepts or curriculum being taught. They will also have opportunities for shared learning experiences with students in other grades within our school.
Your child’s first experience with school should be a positive one to ensure future school success. As a partner in your child’s education, we commit ourselves to that goal! We look forward to spending our year with you, your child, and family!
