Little Engine That Could

The Little Engine That Could  teaches the children a valuable lesson  and defines our classroom goal and motto.

The little blue engine inspires us to always try and say “I think I can” even when we might think that we cannot meet the challenges that we face.  She also sets a good example of taking the time to help others in need.

Keeping our goal in mind, we all should encourage children to try new skills, even if they question their ability.  Sometimes a little encouragement and patience is all they need.  If a child becomes disappointed or frustrated, help him/her find a solution, don’t do it for them! A child who accomplishes a goal on his/her own, is one well on the way to positive self-esteem and can take pride in even the smallest successes!

We also  need  to encourage or acknowledge the children's little acts of kindness or compassion for others.  Like the little blue engine, if everyone took the time, or used an opportunity to help or encourage someone else, I’m sure the world would be a better place. We would all be so fortunate to have a roundhouse of little blue engines!
